Who Lawfly is

Software that keeps a legal matter whole.

Lawfly is an Ontario-incorporated company creating AI-assisted software for legal professionals. Our mission is to keep everything about a matter connected, so that documents, facts, research and drafts inform each other and the lawyer always sees where a statement comes from.

Why Lawfly exists

A matter lives in too many places, and the links between them live in the lawyer's head.

Orders arrive as photos. Research sits in browser tabs. Instructions are buried in messages. Drafts are copied from the last similar file. When a new document arrives, nobody knows which facts, dates and paragraphs it quietly changed. Solo lawyers and small firms carry this reassembly work alone.

Scattered record

Pleadings, evidence and correspondence across folders, drives, chat and paper.

Unanchored facts

Chronologies and drafts state facts without showing which page supports them.

Silent drift

New documents change the picture, but nothing flags the timeline entries and draft passages now out of date.

Why now

Three things changed at once.

Court records are increasingly digital

Listings, orders and filings reach lawyers as files rather than paper, so a matter can be assembled from the record itself where courts publish it.

Language models can read a file and point to a page

Recent models can locate the passage behind a statement and notice when a new document touches it. That makes source-linked facts practical for small firms, provided a lawyer checks the result.

Small firms carry the reassembly work alone

Solo lawyers and small litigation firms rarely have staff to rebuild a chronology after each new document. Software that keeps the links is the help that fits.

Stated as observations from practice; market statistics are published here only with a dated primary source.

What the platform connects

One matter record. Everything else attached to it.

Facts, dates, documents, research and drafts are designed to live on one matter and point to each other, so a change in one can be traced through the rest of the file.

Matter facts
Parties, what happened, what is in dispute.
Important dates
Hearings, deadlines and tasks, with what was decided.
The matter
Each item points to the document and page it comes from. Gaps and conflicts are shown, not hidden.
Documents and evidence
Pleadings, orders, exhibits and correspondence, read on arrival.
Research and sources
Questions answered with references the lawyer verifies.
Drafts
Started from the record and the facts the lawyer has approved.
Lawyer review
Every AI suggestion waits for a decision; approved work is preserved.
Regional edition
Procedure, language and sources adapted per market.
Market-neutral view of the platform design; what is available differs by market (see Technology). The India edition adds court-record import where courts publish data; the Canadian edition is planned to add English–French document review.

How Lawfly approaches legal work

AI that shows its work and waits for the lawyer.

Lawfly uses language models to read documents, surface connections and propose text. The rules below decide how those proposals reach a lawyer. Items marked “Today” describe the India beta as it works now; items marked “Principle” guide what we build next.

Today · India betaPrinciple · intended behaviour

Research answers show their sourcesToday

Research summaries cite the material they drew on so the lawyer can open and verify it. Marking unsupported facts as gaps across the whole matter is a principle for the next editions.

Suggestions, never silent changesPrinciple

New information produces proposals with sources. Lawyer-approved work is not overwritten.

The lawyer finalises everythingToday

Lawfly does not file, send or advise. Research and drafts are starting points labelled as AI-generated.

Clear regional availabilityToday

Every page says which market a capability is available in. Each edition is built around its own procedure, language and sources.

Product journey

Shipped first, then expanded.

Lawfly’s first market is India, where the product is in use by advocates. What is learned there informs the Canadian edition. The illustrations below show the workspace concept with a fictional, jurisdiction-neutral sample matter; they are not screenshots of the India beta. Usage figures are published only when verified.

Q. Which documents describe the delivery dates?

Two documents on this matter give delivery dates. The supply agreement sets delivery “within 10 business days of each purchase order” (§4.2, p.3). The delivery records list three deliveries: 18 Jun, 9 Jul and 27 Aug 2025 (p.1–2). The email correspondence refers to a “late August shipment” but gives no date (p.4). No document on the matter records the purchase-order dates, so whether each delivery was within 10 business days cannot be checked from the file yet.
